The film was completed in 1956 in its present shortened form with the Shostakovitch track, although some of the footage was taken in the winter of 1952-1953 at Harvard University. Although I worked on other films during this time, I consider this my first truly completed film. The story is of a young man, Edward, played by Brakhage, who gets himself into a seriously comic mental mix-up by indulging in semi-sexual fantasies while having the audacity to fall asleep in the process and allow the fantasy to take over. I am pleased now with some of the editing and with the economic simplicity with which the film was made.
